Guarnaschelli began her culinary experiences by watching the recipes she'd written in her mother's cookbooks being examined at home. Her career began under Larry Forgione before working in various Los Angeles, New York and France-based restaurants. She ultimately became the executive chef of Butter. Guarnaschelli was a contestant in 2007's Farmers Market Battle, a segment of Food Network's Iron Chef America, where she took on Cat Cora. After appearing as a Judge on the program the show in 2011, Guarnaschelli took part in the show's fourth season wherein she placed third. The contest ended in defeat on an episode of the Food Network Challenge Ultimate Thanksgiving Feast. After the fourth season, she became Geoffrey Zakarian's sous-chef.
